Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Dr. Jennifer Abbey is proud to offer a warm, collaborative environment in which to explore the problems and challenges that you are facing. Dr. Abbey utilizes a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approach which focuses on helping clients understand the connection between their thoughts, behaviors and feelings. CBT is a well-known and well-researched treatment for many psychological difficulties, ranging from life-transitions to clinical depression. Dr. Abbey is also an expert in treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder with a specific type of therapy, called Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). ERP has been shown to be the most effective treatment for OCD. Across all problem areas, Dr. Abbey is active and solution-focused. She partners with her clients to determine the best way to meet their needs/goals and works with them to assess progress throughout the treatment.
